Junior college transfer Saquan Singleton announced his commitment to the University of New Mexico on Monday afternoon. He chose the Lobos over Kansas State, TCU, Pacific and Alabama (which was considered the favorite at some point).

The day of his announcement, April 6, was also his birthday.

“It’s been a long process and a long decision of really sitting down with my family,” he said on a video. “I finally made a decision. I will be attending The Pit at the University of New Mexico. Go Lobos.”

Singleton is ranked No. 22 in jucorecruiting.com’s 2020 prospect rankings. He averaged 11.8 points per game while shooting at 54.3% from the field, 7.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists during his sophomore year at Hutchinson Community College.

Singleton has always dreamed of playing in Division I. Check out this article from the New York Post: Bronx product Saquan Singleton finally getting Division I dream with New Mexico
