The University of New Mexico men’s basketball staff was busy this weekend hosting official visits before the 2019 fall school semester officially starts.
Four-star recruit Jaylen Clark’s arrival even had a couple Lobos showing their excitement and support through social media.
Clark, from Compton Magic, received an offer form the Lobos late July. He posted his final six schools at the beginning of August, which included Xavier, New Mexico, USC, UCLA, Colorado, and TCU.
Per Stock Risers, he was originally going to visit the Lobos on Aug. 30, and visit the Xavier Musketeers on the weekend of the 16. However, Xavier got their third 2020 commitment from four-star wing Colby Jones earlier in the week.
Through 28 games during his 2018-19 season at Centennial in California, Clark averaged 17.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.7 steals. He tweeted a photo of himself wearing a Lobo jersey on Friday, which got a lot of attention from fans. A couple members of the UNM men’s basketball team joined the social media conversation by sharing Clark’s tweet.

“Show my boi some love ABQ,” tweeted 6’6″ wing Emmanuel Andrew.
“Yesssirrr,” said now sophomore Tavian Percy.
Another recruit visiting the school was Obinna Anochili-Killen. The 6’8″ power forward announced his offer from the Lobos on Aug. 2.
While he might not have publicly gotten as much of a buzz as Clark, his highlight reel definitely earns him sore respect. He plays at Chapmanville High School in West Virginia, a team that has won back-to-back state championships.
