Keith McGee has finished the academic requirements needed to transfer and has officially joined the New Mexico roster. The news came via press release on Tuesday morning.
McGee is a South Plains College transfer who spent the summer trying to graduate early so he could join the Lobos for the 2018-19 season. He had been announced to sign back in April and was in Albuquerque during the summer, but McGee didn’t officially join the program until now.
“Keith’s growth this year on and off the court has been exceptional,” head coach Paul Weir said during the first press release introducing McGee in April. “His elite quickness and athleticism are perfect matches to our offensive and defensive styles. We look forward to watching Keith continue to blossom as a Lobo and thrive in our system.”
The 6’2″ point guard played 32 games as a freshman, 22 of those as a starter. He averaged 7.8 points and 2.4 rebounds with an average of 21. 2 minutes of play. His team made a trip to 2018 NJCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship in March. McGee was the tournament MVP.
