New Mexico redshirt sophomore Vance Jackson will be returning to the University of New Mexico next season.
He announced he was declaring for the 2019 NBA Draft early this month. On April 26, Jackson said he had learned a lot but was now returning to school to take care of unfinished business.
“An experience that I personally needed in order to take strides forward in my growth as an athlete and most importantly my growth as a man,” read his social media post. “In that short time I was able to sit back and reflect. Thoughts of my teammates, our coaching staff and our great fans were constantly on my mind.”

The the 6’9″ guard/forward has registered 32 games as a Lobo, 16 of those as a starter, averaging 27.8 minutes. The New Mexico offense will be happy to have him back, as he averaged double digits during the 2018-19 campaign at 13.1 points per game. The Lobos will also be returning senior Anthony Mathis, who led the team with 14.4 points per game.
Jackson was named last season’s Mountain West Preseason Newcomer of the Year and snatched a spot in the MW All-Tournament team.
