The Lobos hosted the Aggies on Jan. 26 and fell 66-68 to the visiting team. This game came down to an incorrect officiating call as Lobo senior Anthony Mathis was approaching halfcourt and passed the ball to teammate Vance Jackson. This led to the referees calling a backcourt violation and giving the Aggies the ball. After the game, the Mountain West released a statement about the call being incorrect.
Utah State is tied for second place in the conference with Fresno State. The Aggies are currently 20-6 overall and 10-3 in the conference. They enter Wednesday with a two-game winning streak.
Playing on the road will be a tough challenge for the Lobos (11-14, 5-8 MW) as the Aggies are 11-1 when playing at Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
