Previous series
The Lobos hosted Grand Canyon during the week. The series was split as New Mexico pulled a 9-8 win on Tuesday, and the Lopes bounced back on Wednesday with a 9-7 victory. With these results, the cherry and silver team entered the weekend with a 20-24-1 record.
Friday: Air Force 5, UNM 4
New Mexico picked up one run during the first inning, but the offense didn’t get a result again until the eighth. Air Force held a 5-3 lead before the last inning of the day. Junior Drew Gillespie pitched for the Lobos until the eight inning. Redshirt Freshman Drew Marrufo was able to shut down the Falcons during the top of the ninth, but UNM’s lone run during the bottom was not enough for a comeback.
