Anthony Mathis will return to school for the 2019-20 season, but it doesn’t look like it will be at the University of New Mexico. On Monday morning, Mathis announced he will be entering the transfer portal.
“I’ve learned so much during my time in Albuquerque and I wouldn’t trade it for the world,” read Mathis’ post on social media. “But I have decided to put my name in the transfer portal and use my last year of eligibility as a grad transfer. You guys will always have a special place in my heart, and I cannot that you guys enough.”

On April 17, Mathis was told he had received another year of eligibility to continue his college basketball career. New Mexico announced he would be classified as a redshirt senior for the upcoming season. However, Mathis will now use his last year as a grad transfer.
